The codes succeeded in XP but failed in Vista.
I just open the folder I want to copy from via LAN and drag them to the Vista folders where I want the file to be copied. idea why Microsoft took so much control out of the hands of even an administrator’s account. If I can not resolve this issue I will be forced to install XP Pro over Vista on my new laptop.

The System Restore in XP was crummy. Now it uses volume shadow copying. I've done all sorts of testing and restores on Vista over the months. Worked great every time. The Previous Versions feature is a nice addition to System Restore. Files on drives you have flagged for System Restore get individually backed up.

Standard Users Privileges
I can open up notepad, write an html file, and save it to the root of the folder. However, when I open up the html file again, it doesn't let me edit When I copy files from other areas in XP, I can edit them in vista. However, even if I copy single files over from this particular folder, I can't change them.

Windows alerts on .exe files
I finally got tired of it and decided to turn UAC off, I did, the machine said it would need to restart and I never saw my Vista again. It was MagicDisk to unlock ISO files. It completely enslaved my machine and I tried to uninstall it. There was no way I could delete the folders, no way.

In one of the ms.vb groups someone posted a method to revoke secure control of writing to the program files folder even if security/UAC is turned on. will end up doing so I may as well disable the annoying UAC crap as I am ignoring it now anyway and set Vista up to be more secure my own way, just as I do on XP.

Yes, I copied 6GB of files and got 600MB on the other end between two locally attached SATA hard drives in good working order. Good thing I didn't move them. I want to "upgrade" to XP on my X61. I think I might be able to get XP disks until 2009 from Lenovo. It's good that they provide a Vista-to-XP option.
